Omega 3 Fatty Acids

All of us know they are good. Here is a simple post on what they are and why they are good. Also I have found a couple of sources.

Fats are of three types.
1. Saturated ( Single bond between carbon and hydrogen atoms)
2. Mono unsaturated ( one double bond)
3. Poly unsaturated ( 2 double bonds)

Fats are the ones which provide more calories compared to Proteins or Carbs. And we need fats for energy buiding fight diseases etc.
To make things simple, Saturated ( Or anything tht contains the name Partially Hydrogenated oil) is bad for health in all forms.

So one has to replace it with Mono and Poly Unsaturated fats. The latter (poly ) is not produced by body. Omega 3 Fatty acids have them. Omega 3 acids prevent a whole lot of other diseases too. They lower cholestrol, fight stress in a big way, control depression, reduce chances of heart disorder, prevent certain types of cancer, fight inflammation and irritable bowels, prevent Arthritis Osteoporosis etc.
Among cookign oils canola oil is good source of mono and poly unsaturated fats. It has less or no saturated fat.
Flaxseeds or Flaxseed oil, Codliver tablets are big source of Omega 3 Fatty acids.

Source - This carries some reseraches supporting the theory
Also read the word of caution printed here. What I have written is a jist of the matter and also something from Oprah Winfrey s show I saw today..

Some more gyan - A blind way of keeping things on check is that eat food low in sugar, low in salt, high in fibre, high in calcium and proteins and exercise regularly. Oatmeals and cereals have high amount of vitamins we need for our body.

It s small incremental values which keep u healthy. A habit which gets built over time. The older self will thank you. It s exactly in the same manner as, junk food slowly kills you.

In the end I would like to quote what my cosuin's gradpa always says ' the lifetime of a man is not the number of days he lived, it s the number of days he has been healthy and happy'

Ciao
Till next post

Mujhe Pyar Hai Tumse

Was more than delighted to get this video on net. Fell in love with this song when I was 13. Searched for the song everywhere and gave up...

Here is it for fellow lovers

Movies this weekend

I have become a movie buff !!!!
3 movies straight this weekend.

1. Dhamaal. Hindi - Comedy. Dont expect to bring any memories out of theatre. 3 hours of very good timepass. Javed jaffry is funny.

2. Rush Hour 2 . Have seen others. Waiting for 4. hehe . How about location in India ? I think the director should consider this.

3. The beautiful mind. I feel my writing capability / vocabulary will be too less to describe this movie. That I call is life. I have never seen such a simple and sensible movie. Impeccably taken. Probably would watch it again..

hmmmm. Have ordered a couple of more movies for subsequent weekends.

Reading Speed ?

Have you ever wondered what your reading speed is ? Here is a site, which quickly and easily calculates it. Don't ask me about the accuracy of the reading. Maybe you should cross check it.

Part -3

The sequel movies are great to watch, especially when you are promised an unlimited entertainment.
Unfortunately, I always watch them in the sequence 1,3 and 2. Bourne series and Rush hour fall in this category. Since there is a huge time gap between the parts 1 and 3, I am really really disappointed to see the bloated versions of actors. Chris tucker did not look like himself. And Matt Damon was brawny loses his charm in ultimatum. ( Opinions here are my own)
Nevertheless the movies were great entertainers for the weekend. I have gotten the slang 'what s up maaann' from chris in rush hour. He continues to be funny.
Another movie I watched recently and liked was 'Devil wears prada'. I feel it shud be remade in Hindi. The movie is just about arrogant and demanding bosses, but it seemed so natural and Meryl Streep is just AWESOME.
Planning to watch some more movies in the coming days. Suggestions are welcome.Drama, Romance, Comedy, Fictions and lil action movies preferred :-)
